The sequel to the hit classic Back to the Future is now about to be reviewed by FilmJams - and, I have to say, this series is just fantastic.
Back to the Future Part II was released in the United States on November 22, 1989. It was directed by Robert Zemeckis, produced by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, had music composed by Alan Silvestri, and starred Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Thomas F. Wilson. It is the sequel to one of the all-time greats, Back to the Future, and it is a very good sequel indeed.
In this film, the time travel was very confusing as opposed to its predecessor, weaving in and out of three (technically four, if you count the very end of the movie when Doc and Marty are in 1885) different time periods. Nonetheless, it was a very entertaining movie and a great sequel.
The cast, once again, did an amazing job. Thomas F. Wilson, I felt, did a much better job as Biff in this movie than in the original, and I think he brought the character out a little more while also alluding to the character's classic stupidity. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd did an amazing job once again as Marty and Doc, and the other cast members delivered solid performances despite the absence of Crispin Glover.
The problems I have with this film are the time-travel issues that take up way too much time to go into detail, and the fact that Jennifer's character was kind of shoved aside and was just in the movie to fulfill the events of the first film.
Final Grade: B+
All in all, this was a very fun and action/adventure-packed film and one of the best sequels in cinema.
My next review will be for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. Look for that soon, leave a comment for what you want to see me review, and stay tuned for more film content.
